Project Brief

Gulendi water supply project was conceived to provide drinking water facility in the 77 problematic villages located nearby the Gulendi dam in Jhalawar District, Rajasthan

Gulendi dam across the river Gulendiin district Jhalawar is situated at a Distance of about 60km from Jhalawar and is the only dependable and most feasible source to provide drinking water to project area. The Gulendi Water Supply Project from Gulendi Dam comprises physical and institutional components. The physical components include water supply infrastructure (intake pumping station, raw water system, treatment, storage and distribution facilities) whereas the institutional components include the administration arrangements, community participation, training programs and health educational programs.

The various components of the over all Project includes abstraction of water from the Gulendi dam through an Intake structure and raw water main, treatment of the water, storage, transmission of clear water to various distribution centers, and delivery of potable water to the population via primary, secondary and tertiary infrastructure (pumping stations, concrete reservoirs and networks of pipelines).

Project Components

Installation of pumping machinery in the intake well with necessary civil, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation. 300 mm Raw water DI K-9 pumping main from Intake well to treatment plant in a length of about 450 meters. Construction of treatment plant for treatment of 5.1 MLD raw water with 16 hours pumping near Gulendi dam with allied area for office, chemical store, control room etc., and including electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems Construction of 600 KL clear water reservoir at WTP head-works. Construction of pumping station at WTP H/W with necessary electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems. Providing, laying, jointing, testing & commissioning of 100/150/200 mm DI K-7/ K-9 rising main from treatment plant to 10 nos Cluster ESRs Providing valve chambers at junction points, off take chambers for en-route ESRs and water meter chambers for end ESRs. Construction of 10 number ESRs. Providing, laying, jointing, testing & commissioning of , 100/150/200 mm DI K-7 and 90mm to 225mm HDPE PN-6 Cluster distribution main from ESRs to village transfer chambers. Providing of required no of off takes to provide water from cluster distribution main to village transfer chamber. Providing, laying, jointing, testing & commissioning of 63/75/90/110/125 mm MDPE PN-6 village distribution main from village transfer chambers to PSPs/CWTs in villages. Construction of village transfer chambers, PSPs & CWTs in the villages Ancillary Civil works, campus development and Buildings. Suitable arrangement such as pressure switch and alarm for automatic switching off the pump are to be made to prevent overflow of water in the ESR.
